At the early age of 5 years old, Elliott Jeter (E. Jeter) discovered that he had a gift of picking up an instrument and learning how to play it quickly. The first instrument he learned to play was the drum set. He used his talent of playing drums at church and local events.
After playing the drums for a while, Elliott had a desire to begin learning to play piano. His interest with the piano started with him playing on an old piano at his grandmother’s house. He would visit his grandmother, sit at the piano, and come up with different tunes by ear. Although he didn’t know which notes he was playing (as he was playing random notes), the music seemed to sound great to his grandmother as she would often encourage him to continue playing and would even hit a few dance moves.
With encouragement from his grandmother and his newfound love for the piano, Elliott decided to ask his parents about taking lessons. His parents had already noticed that he had a gift for playing the piano as they heard him playing tunes for his grandmother. After hearing him play at his grandmother’s house, they agreed (without any hesitation) to get him signed up for piano lessons.
Elliott took piano lessons under the teachings of Julius Camp (Camp’s School of Gospel Music). And just like Elliott’s grandmother and parents, his piano teacher noticed something special with Elliott as he learned to play the piano at a quick pace. He gained a great deal of knowledge from Mr. Camp which he has used to build upon.
He used the knowledge he gained from taking piano lessons and began playing the piano at church. He even started to receive request to play at various events…weddings, business events, school events, etc. Elliott realized that his love for music continued to grow as he played music more and more. In fact, his love for music grew so much that he didn’t want to stop with just being able to play drums and piano.
With his ability learn how to play instruments quickly, Elliott decided to teach himself to play more instruments, including the guitar and bass guitar along with many more instruments. He is often called a “one man band” after hearing his response whenever someone asks him which instruments he plays.
Elliott wants to continue to share his love of music with the world and continue to grow musically. He’s currently looking to network with other people in the music industry (musicians, music producers, singers, etc.) and see where his music career takes him.
(The late) Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys, Beyonce’, Bruno Mars, Drake, Justin Timberlake, Jill Scott, and Rudy Currence are some of Elliott’s favorite artists.
Elliott plays various styles of music ranging from Gospel and Jazz to Rhythm and Blues to Country. Contact E. Jeter Music to discuss music needs for your event.
